Environmental protection and sustainability are core elements of the Tadano philosophy. That is why we are continuously working on developing zero-emission and reduced-emission drive technologies that enable our customers to operate their cranes in an environmentally conscious way.
Tadano technologies designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions reduce greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions – while also minimizing operating costs in many cases.
All current Tadano cranes can also be operated with various alternative diesel fuels, depending on the model. In many cases, the use of these fuels enables emission-reduced crane operation that is more climate and environmentally friendly.
The APU is a diesel-driven unit that is currently approved for use as an optional accessory for new orders of Tadano RT models GR-1000XLL-4, GR-800XL-4, and GR-1000XL-4 in the USA and Canada.

Eco Mode controls maximum engine speed to reduce emissions, fuel consumption, and noise while providing solid crane operation.
The start-stop function makes it possible to manually shut down the engine with a button in the cab during crane operation in order to avoid idling. This can be used to reduce the crane’s fuel consumption, emissions, and operating hours. While the engine is shut down, the crane control system remains active so that crane operation can be resumed briefly after restarting.
